According to this article from Erin Banco at Politico via MSN.com, COVID-19 vaccines are becoming less effective at blocking infections, especially when looking at individuals 75 and older. In fact, vaccine efficacy against the delta variant was “significantly lower” among older adults across studies.

It is important to note that vaccine efficacy, overall is still helping us fight the virus, as the article notes. Among a study performed, the CDC identified infections among 19% of the unvaccinated and 3% of those fully vaccinated.

Although breakthrough infections are still rare, it is important to stay informed. From choosing to get a booster shot to planning a vacation, remaining informed can help you choose what to do.
