As a program of a nonprofit organization, Senior Security Alliance seeks to support senior citizens nationwide. To ensure we provide the best support we can, we asked seniors throughout the country to fill out a survey. This poll touched on various topics, including the seven rights of our bill.

The results of the survey speak for themselves:

  • 93% agree that Social Security benefits should not be taxed as income.
  • Over 70% agree COLA calculations need to include healthcare costs.
  • Nearly 80% agree money deposited into the Social Security Trust Funds should be used only to pay eligible seniors’ benefits.
  • Over 80% agree that beneficiaries should no longer be taxed at higher rates for choosing to work after retirement.
  • ¾ agree that married couples should not have the household benefits reduced when a spouse passes away.
  • 96% agree Social Security is not “welfare,” and should never be referred to as such.

As you can see, seniors throughout the United States support The Senior Citizen’s Bill of Rights. It is time the politicians in Washington support senior citizens’ financial security. Help us create this necessary change by signing our petition to Congress and acting now.
