Social Security Announces Compassionate Allowances Expansion

Social Security recently made the decision to expand the Compassionate Allowances list. This program helps identify applicants whose condition/disease meets the program’s “statutory standard for disability.”

Conditions added to the expanded list include:

  • Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma
  • Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm
  • Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker Disease
  • Mowat-Wilson Syndrome
  • Myelodysplastic Syndrome with Excess Blasts
  • NUT Carcinoma
  • Pfeiffer Syndrome – Types II and III
  • Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia
  • Posterior Cortical Atrophy
  • Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma
