According to an early prediction by Kiplinger, Social Security beneficiaries could see a 3% cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) for 2022. This increase would be due to various prices that are starting to climb.

Another reason for this increase, Kiplinger states, is the recent stimulus bill passage. According to the article, the resulting checks will “likely boost demand for new and used motor vehicles and other consumer goods.”

Currently, COLA calculations do not include the rising costs of healthcare. Unfortunately, healthcare is not a luxury item that we could live without; for senior citizens especially, it is a necessity.

Even if the early prediction is to be believed, the costs of healthcare will continue to rise and go unaccounted for. This must change.

That is why we must pass The Senior Citizens Bill of Rights. This groundbreaking piece of legislation provides 7 rights for senior citizens. These rights provide seniors with more financial security.
