Working After Retirement

According to a study by the TransAmerica Center for Retirement Studies 57 percent of current workers intend to work after retirement. However, this course of action risks retirees losing some of their Social Security benefits, especially for those who have yet to reach their full retirement age.

Why This Matters

As Forbes reports, the percentage of senior citizen households holding debt is increasing. With static monthly incomes, it’s not uncommon for retirees to turn to the workforce to pay these rising bills.

But many retirees rely on the entirety of their benefit payments as a large portion of their income. And when senior citizens earn more than the income threshold, their benefit payments are withheld.

Unfortunately, this practice only creates a headache for senior citizens. The amount of benefits withheld is related to the amount over the income threshold the retiree has gone. This means, the more the individual earns, the less their benefit payment is.

This forces seniors to jump through hoops and perform confusing calculations just to ensure their monthly income is enough to allow them to live comfortably.

We Can Help

For anyone reading this thinking “this is completely unjust,” we agree. That is why we created The Senior Citizens Bill of Rights. This bill provides seniors with seven rights that guarantee a more just and financially secure retirement.

Of these seven rights is the right to keep the entirety of your Social Security benefit, no matter how much extra is made. This essential right will eliminate the need to perform various mind-numbing calculations to ensure retirees earn enough to live comfortably.

Join us in urging the politicians in Washington to pass our revolutionary bill now; it is time to take a stand for senior citizens’ rights.
