With 2022 approaching, there are many changes that senior citizens can look forward to. According to US News, these impending changes include:
- Social Security payments increase by 5.9 percent
- The full retirement age (FRA) increases to 67 years old for anyone born in 1960.
- The Income threshold increases. Beneficiaries younger than the FRA can earn up to $19,560 before benefits start being withheld.
- Social Security statements have been redesigned to be easier to read and provide more information.
- The amount of earnings subjected to Social Security taxes will increase to $147,000.
These changes can be helpful to senior citizens. However, it is not enough. That is why Senior Security Alliance created our groundbreaking bill, The Senior Citizens Bill of Rights.
