The Social Security Administration (SSA) has released its payment schedule for August 2023. Beneficiaries will receive their payments on different dates depending on their birthday. Here’s what you need to know from your friends at the Social Security Alliance.
The SSA’s Payment Schedule for August
The SSA is very structured by it can be confusing if you’re new to collecting benefits. Here’s how it works:
- SSI recipients will receive their payments on August 1st.
- Beneficiaries who started receiving their Social Security payments before May 1997 will receive their payments on August 3rd.
- Beneficiaries born between August 1st and 10th will receive their payments on August 9th.
- Beneficiaries born between August 11th and 20th will receive their payments on August 16th.
- And beneficiaries born between August 21st and 31st will receive their payments on August 23rd.
The SSA may adjust the payment dates if a holiday falls on a payment date. For example, if Labor Day falls on August 2nd in 2023, the SSA may move the payment date for beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th to August 1st.
If you are a Social Security beneficiary, you can check the SSA’s website to see your specific payment date. You can also sign up for a direct deposit to get your payments automatically deposited into your bank account. And as always, know your Social Security rights and how to defend the program.
