Social Security Administration’s Holiday Schedule for 2021

AARP has posted the Social Security Administration’s holiday schedule for 2021.

During federal holidays, Social Security services will not be available to make scheduled visits. In addition, telephone services that require live representatives will also be unavailable on these days.

The federal holiday schedule for 2021 is as follows:

  • New Year’s Day – Friday, Jan. 1
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday, Jan. 18
  • Presidents Day – Monday, Feb. 15
  • Memorial Day – Monday, May 31
  • Independence Day – Monday, July 5
  • Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 6
  • Columbus Day – Monday, Oct. 11
  • Veterans Day – Thursday, Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 25
  • Christmas –  Friday, Dec. 24
  • New Year’s Day (observed) – Friday, Dec. 31

According to AARP, the Social Security Administration’s offices have remained open for urgent matters during the pandemic. However, it is recommended that everyone try their FAQ website, as well as access the online portal before making an in-person appointment.
