Scammers Continue to Target Senior Citizens

Unfortunately, there is another scam to look out for. According to The Paris News, scammers are attempting to gain personal information from Medicare beneficiaries in exchange for COVID-19 tests.

In response to this scam, the Social Security Administration declared that no government agency will ask for personal information in exchange for COVID-19 related payments or grants.

Additionally, scammers have also started sending threats of suspending or discontinuing Social Security benefits due to closing offices.

The Inspector General of Social Security, Gail S. Ennis, reassures beneficiaries that the Social Security Administration will not suspend or discontinue benefit payments due to office closures.

Senior Security Alliance urges everyone to stay safe and report all scams encountered to the appropriate authorities.
