To the Members of the Congress of the United States,

Being of sound mind and body and having contributed to the Social Security Trust Fund through a lifetime of hard work,

I do urge you to immediately pass The Senior Citizens Bill of Rights.

This crucial legislation will strengthen Social Security and improve the financial security of millions of retired Americans.

The time to act is now. We cannot afford to wait any longer.

I stand with the Senior Security Alliance and citizens across America calling for the benefits and guarantees of The Senior Citizens Bill of Rights.

These crucial Rights include:

• Social Security is an earned benefit and can never be cut
• Social Security benefits will no longer be taxed as income
• Increases in healthcare costs must be used in calculating annual Social Security COLA increases
• Money deposited into the Trust Fund can only be used to pay benefits to eligible senior citizens
• Senior Citizens who are receiving Social Security benefits will no longer be penalized and taxed at a higher rate for choosing to work after retiring from their career
• A married couple will no longer have their earned benefits reduced when one member of the household passes away
• The Federal Government, elected officials, and federal employees are forbidden from referring to Social Security as a “welfare” program. Senior citizens earned their benefits
