Two Maryland residents, Stuart Lowry and Mike Groves, have invented a communications device that can help keep senior citizens connected to their loved ones.
Groves explained to Patch.com his initial idea for the device, LiveWall. The device was originally an idea to help his mother after his father passed away.
“[My siblings and I] came home a lot and spent a lot of time on the phone with her. More than occasionally, she wouldn’t hang up the phone properly. We would have no way to contact her. This would usually be followed by a late evening drive-by to hang up her phone. … That is when I came up with the idea of the LiveWall. Having a way to send her a message onto a screen on the wall was the initial idea,” Groves explained to Patch. But with Lowry’s programming skills, the project became more.
Although originally designed for their parents, the device Groves and Lowry made could help many currently in need of connection. The device could provide many senior citizens with a simple way to stay connected to loved ones as social distancing continues.
