With more and more vaccines becoming available, people are starting to ask about the safety of visiting others again. Questions that include: is it safe for senior citizens to visit loved ones after they have been vaccinated?
The answer is not a definitive yes or no. Join the Senior Security Alliance as we take a look at this complicated question.
NPR suggests limiting visits to others. They write that even if an individual has received the vaccine, they could still become infected.
Additionally, they note that it is important to remember that the clinical trials for the vaccine did not examine infection rate, only if they prevented severe cases.
Therefore, as the country continues to work to get more senior citizens vaccinated, it is important to remain vigilant and continue to wear masks.
However, Dr. Saad Omer, director of the Yale Institute for Global Health “thinks some loosening up after getting the second dose is reasonable, especially for people who live independently.”
Together, we can work towards getting back to normal and seeing family and friends regularly once again!
