Stay Informed and “Slam the Scam”

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that the 2nd annual “Slam the Scam” Day will take place on March 4, 2021. This event seeks to inform the public about the various scams that continue to spread, many of which target senior citizens.

According to the article, there were more than 718,000 reported scams relating to Social Security. These scams accumulated $44.8 million in losses with an average of $5,800 per victim.

The “Slam the Scam” event schedule is as follows:

  • March 3, the Inspector General and SSA Commissioner will raise awareness and answer questions by holding a press call.
  • March 4, the SSA will utilize social media to reach a larger audience.
