Do you know how your benefit payments stacks against the average? Well, according to MSN, the average monthly benefit payment for those filing single and claiming at age 62 is $1,480; for married individuals, the average benefit payment at 62 is $2,170.
While claiming benefits at 62 allows for individuals to receive benefits longer, there are advantages to waiting. When individuals reach full retirement age, their benefit payments will be larger than those who claim early.
